Manchester United are reportedly set to table a new £120,000-a-week deal to Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera. According to a report in the  Daily Mail , Manchester United are set to offer a bumper new contract to Ander Herrera in the summer, in a deal that will see the Spanish midfield maestro earn £120,000-a-week. Herrera arrived at Manchester United from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2014 in a £29million deal and immediately became a regular in his very first season in England. However, a disappointing second season followed, which saw the Spaniard fall down the pecking order. With opportunities in the first team not coming regularly, there were fears that Herrera would prefer to move on from his role as a squad player. However, the appointment of Jose Mourinho at the helm at Old Trafford has seen the Spaniard resurrect his Manchester United career. He is now one of the first names on the team sheet, having become one of the most influential players for

Manchester United  have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of the Europa League title  as Anderlecht boss Rene Weiler admitted he may be forced to play a weakened team for the  tie at Old Trafford. The Red Devils are locked at 1-1 with their Belgian opponents heading into the second leg  after Anderlecht struck late to secure a draw at home. But with his side firmly in contention to win the Belgian First Division and facing Club Brugge on  Sunday, he has picked that out as a priority and admitted players will be rested against Jose  Mourinho’s men. Weiler said ahead of the quarter-final at Old Trafford: ‘It’s harder than usual to divide our  attention between the next two matches,’ said Weiler. Juventus masterclass eliminates Barcelona from Champions League

BARCELONA, Spain -- Here are three thoughts from the Camp Nou as Juventus held firm against Barcelona's pressure to advance 3-0 on aggregate (0-0 on Wednesday night) to the Champions League semifinals. 1. Barca can't mount another magic comeback Since their comeback against Paris Saint-Germain last month, there has been a huge poster outside Barcelona's stadium that reads, "Welcome to Camp Nou, history happens here." There was no history made Wednesday, though -- at least not as far as Barca were concerned, as they were held to a goal-less draw by Juventus and eliminated from the Champions League. Neymar, Barcelona need to dry their tears and refocus after UCL exit

Image
BARCELONA, Spain -- As much from a human perspective as a journalistic one, I'd be really curious to know the true reason that Neymar wept his eyes out on Wednesday night. On the surface of it, you might wish to call me insensitive. The biggest prize in club football disappears for at least another season, with club and sponsor bonuses vanishing out the window: What's not to cry about? Right? Well, just for the sake of argument, I'd have to say that I doubt that's a significant enough cause for Barcelona's troublesome Brazilian star to sit down forcefully, on the edge of the Juventus penalty box, before bursting into tears when referee Bjorn Kuipers blew for full time. He sobbed so much that three things happened. Dani Alves, his national team ally and former Barca teammate, went to give him a man-hug. But that wasn't a sufficient curative. It took the only Barcelona player who bothered to go and seek out the bawling Neymar, Sergio Busquets, to raise the

Trump: I won’t say whether we sabotaged North Korea missile test

President Trump is refusing to say whether the U.S. sabotaged North Korea’s launch of ballistic missile that blew up shortly after liftoff Sunday morning. “I don’t want to comment on it,” Trump told “Fox & Friends” co-host Ainsley Earhardt at Monday’s White House Easter Egg Roll. Learn more North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un North Korea President Kim Jong Un Age North Korea News Pyongyang Last month,  the New York Times reported  that during President Barack Obama’s last three years in office, he quietly ordered a surge in strikes against the missile launches — including the use of “electronic warfare” techniques to combat them. It’s unclear whether such a counterattack was used to sabotage Sunday’s launch. “The approach taken in targeting the North Korean missiles has distinct echoes of the American- and Israeli-led sabotage of Iran’s nuclear program, the most sophisticated known use of a cyberweapon meant to cripple a nuclear threat,” the Times’ David Sanger and William

Russian bombers fly close to Alaska again

Image
For the second time in two days, a pair of Russian bombers flew close to Alaska, this time coming within 35 nautical miles of the coastline, according to a U.S. official. Monday was the first time in more than two years that Russian military aircraft have flown close to the U.S. mainland. Two Russian TU-95 Bear bombers flew a path along the Aleutian Islands on Tuesday evening, headed northeast toward the mainland, the official said. Though they were flying in international airspace, they entered the U.S. military’s Air Defense Identification Zone, which that extends 200 nautical miles from shore. Unidentified military aircraft are asked to identify themselves while transiting that zone. U.S. airspace extends 12 miles from the U.S. coastline. In-form FC Porto loanee ‎Mikel Agu says he will not extend his current loan deal with Vitoria Setubal, which will come to an end at the end of the season. Mikel has emerged as one of the leaders of the team on the pitch with top notch performances for the team in most of the games he has played this season. Last season he was on loan to Club Brugge, but injuries and fitness issues reduced his impact for the Belgian side, which made FC Porto to send him on another loan upon his return.‎ 23 year old Agu has so far played 25 games ‎in the league, earning three team of the week nominations and two man of the match award for his performances. ” I have been told my loan will not be extended by FC Porto, so for now am heading back after this season. Will I play for Porto next season?, I honestly don’t know but I know I won’t be at Setubal at the end of the season”, Agu told Owngoalnigeria.com. ” The national team of Nigeria is the dream of every player from Nigeria, I’m not di

Nigeria might break-up under Buhari – US Lawyer

Nigeria might break-up under Buhari – US Lawyer Posted By:  Osita Duru on:  April 20, 2017 In:  Breaking News ,  Nation ,  News ,  Nigeria No Comments   Print   Email A US-based international lawyer, Lloyd Ukwu, has predicted that Nigeria could still break up under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari. He pointed out that the failed prediction by international bodies of a possible breakup in 2015 does not actually rule out the fact that the country at the moment is at the very point of tearing apart. In a letter he wrote from Washington D.C. USA, the international lawyer noted that the current administration is running a government complicated by tribal, religious and sectional rivalries. According to Ukwu, “Disturbingly, Nigeria is still not completely out of the woods; as it may still break up. The possibility of conflict and dissolution of the country continue to loom because Buhari is stoking trouble. He is actively stirring up issues that can lead to serio
