EXCLUSIVE: Xabi Alonso on his Bayern Munich future and Real Madrid's Clasico humbling
The midfielder talks to Goal about the possibility of one day returning to Liverpool and the criticism levelled at the Spanish giants after their humiliation against Barcelona
Xabi Alonso is relaxed over his future despite his Bayern Munich contract expiring at the end of the season.

The midfielder, 34, is in his second season with Bayern after leaving Real Madrid in 2014 and has been linked with a move back to Liverpool.

But the Spain international, who won the Champions League, Uefa Super Cup and FA Cup during his time at Anfield, is settled in Munich and hoping to resolve the uncertainty surrounding his future soon.

"At the moment I am focused on the season and Bayern," he told Goal when asked if he could imagine returning to Liverpool. "I don't know what is going to happen in [the] future but hopefully I will know soon.

"My family and I are feeling very comfortable in Munich and we are happy here."
Another of Alonso's former clubs, Real Madrid, have come in for heavy criticism since their embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Barcelona at the Bernabeu in the first Clasico of the season.

The 34-year-old still expects Madrid to challenge Barca for the title and believes the experience in the squad will help them quickly move on from the defeat.

"Real Madrid is a big club and like at any other big club too, there are always critics after defeats," he said. "But they are experienced enough and know that this is going to happen sometimes.

"There is still a long way to go until the end of the season and a lot of things can happen. They have the quality, they have great players and they have a great team. They can fight for the title."
