Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of the Europa League title
as Anderlecht boss Rene Weiler admitted he may be forced to play a weakened team for the
tie at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are locked at 1-1 with their Belgian opponents heading into the second leg
after Anderlecht struck late to secure a draw at home.
But with his side firmly in contention to win the Belgian First Division and facing Club Brugge on
Sunday, he has picked that out as a priority and admitted players will be rested against Jose
Mourinho’s men.
Weiler said ahead of the quarter-final at Old Trafford: ‘It’s harder than usual to divide our
attention between the next two matches,’ said Weiler.
‘Manchester United and Club Brugge are two teams who will both play a strong game against us.
‘I understand that you say that we should play our strongest team tomorrow. But I also have other things in my head.
