The Daily Mirror's John Cross says Jose Mourinho is fortunate there is no obvious replacement for the Portuguese currently available.

Turkey challenges Russia over IS oil trade claim

Turkey has challenged Russia to prove its claim that Ankara shot down a Russian plane in order to protect its oil trade with Islamic State (IS). "If you allege something you should prove it," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. He was responding to a statement by Russia's President Vladimir Putin. Russia says Turkey downed the jet as it was flying over Syria. Turkey says the plane entered its airspace and was warned to leave. One Russian pilot was killed and the other rescued after Russia's Su-24 bomber was shot down by a Turkish F-16 fighter on the Syrian border on 24 November. A Russian marine was killed during the rescue operation in north-western Syria. Russia has insisted the plane did not cross the border and that it gave advance notice of the flight path to the US, Turkey's ally. But the US has supported Turkey's version of events. Petition launched to sack Arsenal medical staff

It's tough to be an Arsenal fan at the moment - and maybe even tougher to be a member of Arsene Wenger's squad. The Gunners' injury woes reached a nadir on Wednesday after learning that Santi Cazorla will be out for up to three months with knee ligament damage, while Alexis Sanchez is expected to miss a month with a thigh injury. Wenger now has an entire starting XI out on the sidelines , and it has all gotten a little too much for some. One particularly disgruntled fan - M S in Australia - has decided to try to avoid repeat disasters, starting a  Change.org  petition calling for Wenger to sack his  entire  medical staff. Messi & Neymar star as Barca thrash Roma 6:1

Lionel Messi finished off a 27-pass move and Luis Suarez scored a great volley as Barcelona celebrated Champions League Group E qualification with victory over Roma. Suarez tapped home the opener and then Messi finished off a sublime move, before Suarez volleyed in his second. Gerard Pique made it 4-0 from close range and Messi poked in another. Adriano smashed in after Neymar had his penalty saved before Edin Dzeko headed in the consolation in stoppage time. Former Manchester City forward Dzeko also headed over from close range and had a penalty saved by Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
